A different model
B2MC was built with a deliberate rejection of the service-delivery model that dominates much of the nonprofit sector. We do not see the community as a recipient of help. We see it as a reservoir of capacity, leadership, and wisdom that has been systematically underinvested in — and our role is to unlock and amplify what is already there.
Cross-generational by design
Most youth-serving organizations serve youth. Most senior-serving organizations serve seniors. B2MC intentionally spans generations — serving children, teens, adults, and seniors in the same community. This is not just programmatic convenience. It reflects our belief that community capacity is built across generations, not within them.
Locally rooted
B2MC is based in Bedford-Stuyvesant and is committed to remaining rooted there. We are not a citywide organization with a presence in Bed-Stuy. We are a Bed-Stuy organization — and that specificity matters to how we design programs, build relationships, and understand the community we serve.
Theory of change
B2MC operates from a theory of change grounded in community capacity building — the belief that lasting change comes from within communities, not from outside them. Every program, every partnership, and every hire is evaluated against this framework.
