Media Release Policy

How B2MC asks for permission before it photographs, records, or livestreams people at our events.

Why We Ask

We ask before we record.

Building Minds Building Communities, Inc. (B2MC) sometimes photographs, records, and livestreams events so that families, neighbors, and supporters can see the work. Before we include a performer in a livestream or recording, we ask for permission in writing. This page explains how that works and what your choices are.

How It Works

A short release, signed online.

When a family or adult performer registers for an event where B2MC will record or livestream, we send a private link to the media release. The person signs online. If the performer is under 18, a parent or legal guardian signs.

The release names the event, what B2MC may do, and what it may not do. It is free to sign, and nobody is paid for a recording or livestream.

What a Release Covers

Example: the 2026 Community Christmas Talent Show.

For the 2026 Community Christmas Talent Show & Holiday Toy Giveaway on Saturday, December 19, 2026, the release lets B2MC:

  • Record and livestream the performance of the performer named on the form (video, audio, and photographs), and share the livestream and its replay on B2MC's YouTube channel and website.
  • Use the performer's first and last name in the program, on screen, and in announcements about the show.

Optionally, the family may also allow B2MC to use photos and short video clips of the performer after the show on its website, social media, newsletters, and grant reports to share the story of the event.

Your Choices

You stay in control.

  • This permission is free of charge. The performer is not paid for the recording or livestream.
  • B2MC does not sell the recordings.
  • If you do not give permission, B2MC keeps the performer out of the livestream and recordings.
  • You can ask B2MC to stop using or remove a recording from its websites and social media at any time by emailing office@b2mcommunities.org. Copies already shared by others, and printed materials, may not be retrievable.

What a release does not cover. Audience members and other people at the event are not covered by a performer's release.

For how we handle personal information more generally, see our Privacy Policy.

At Events and Programs

Guests, families, and photo walls.

Guests and audience members. B2MC may photograph and record at its events and programs. Where we do, signs at the entrance say so. By coming in, guests understand that they may appear in photos and recordings that B2MC uses to share its work. If you or your child would rather not be photographed or recorded, tell a B2MC team member at check-in. We will give you a “no photos” sticker, and our photographers will keep you out of the shot. Performers are different: they appear on a livestream or in recordings only with a signed release.

Photos you take. You are welcome to take your own photos and videos, including at our photo wall, for personal use. We ask that you post only photos of your own family, and that you ask before posting a photo of someone else’s child.

Our photo wall. Taking a photo at the photo wall does not give B2MC permission to use it, and it does not need to. If B2MC’s team would like to share a photo of you or your child, we will ask first.

Families and children at our events and programs. This applies to every B2MC event or program that involves families or children, including toy and resource giveaways. We do not publish photos that show the faces of children, or of families who are receiving toys, food, or other resources, unless they have given us written permission.
